setting eyes

Several years ago, when learing to make dolls, we used dental plaster to set eyes. I do not have a source to get dental plaster so could someone please tell me what is now used to set eyes? Thanks very much for any info.

I have several Ali Hansen lady dolls. I have Nadia, Camille and Cinamon. I have everything else required to complete these dolls, including eyes, wigs and all clothing. However, the lady that was helping me to paint these dolls has passed away, I do not have any painting techniques. Can anyone help me. I have tried many internet websites with very little success.

Tinting Coolcast?

I was just wondering whether or not its possible to tint coolcast before using it, and if there is a difference between tinting cool cast and using a body stain. Does seeley also have any products to finish the doll so that it is more water resistant? Is cool cast somewhat water resistant itself?

appropriate composition body for competition

It is my understanding there is currently no production of composition bodies right now due to the recent move. and production will resume the first week in October. It would take 6-8 weeks to ship me a body, however, I would need to have it in time for the Hamilton, NY, competition. Would it be acceptible to use the SB10JS, which I have on hand, instead of the FB10S indicated by the catalog?

attaching Katarina's thumbs in greenware

I am trying to attach Katarina's thumbs to her hands in the greenware stage. I have read about the need for venting holes in the pieces, but the thumb is poured solid. Does this small piece need to be vented? Does the hand part need to have a hole in the side of it where the thumb will be attached?

The letter J in the comp body description

What does the letter J stand for in the comp body description, i.e., FB10JS? I want to be sure I have the correct body on my doll. Thanks!

ear lobes

I am doing a competition doll with very small ear lobes. The description of the doll says the ear lobes are pierced. I am confused whether this means to go through the ear lobe into the head, or the thin ear lobe itself staying on the outside of the head. The doll is Deserie (A9T). Thanks!

Doll Stand or Prop?

I am entering a doll into competition for my 2nd Grand Masters and would like to know if I have the doll sitting on a box is the box considered a doll stand or a prop? The doll will have a rod up her back and into the box and she will just be sitting on top of the box.

I have spent hours searching the internet for help on making the cloth body for a porcelin doll with no luck. I have arms and legs and the head for a few dolls. I bought fabric but I am no good without a printed out pattern to make the doll. I would like a pattern to make a 12-15" doll and an 8" doll.........Really every size, lol.........Just find me a darn pattern ASAP as I am ADHD,

i want to do an antique doll for a competition, and i wanted to know if
there was some where that is good to buy the right materials, silks
satins, and material for underwear. the doll would be a like a gentleman's
gentleman probably around end of 1800's.

I'd like to do a Lisbeth she is a S847 doesn't say who she is done by
my question is what catagory would she be put into in a DAG
competition, it says she is 9" tall she looks like a baby doll?
but it doesn't say if she is French or German?
Also little Hanna is 8" she is sculpted by Michele Severino she
would have to have painted eyes and she is a child so which
catagory would she be entered in please.
